Samsung Semiconductor recently hosted a System LSI Tech Day event in San Jose, California, providing a sneak peek into the highly-anticipated Exynos 2400 flagship mobile chipset. Expected to debut alongside the Galaxy S24 series, this chipset aims to outperform its predecessor, the Exynos 2200, with significant performance enhancements.

Samsung is proudly promoting the Exynos 2400 as a game-changing innovation, promising an astonishing 1.7x improvement in CPU performance and an impressive 14.7x boost in AI performance compared to its forerunner, the Exynos 2200. During this event, Samsung also unveiled an innovative AI tool tailored for upcoming smartphones, demonstrating advanced text-to-image AI generation capabilities.

At the core of the Exynos 2400 lies the Xclipse 940 GPU, constructed on the AMD RDNA 3 architecture. This GPU introduces mobile ray tracing, elevating the gaming experience by enhancing shadow rendering, reflections, and global illumination, resulting in a more lifelike gaming environment.

According to industry speculations and a recent benchmark leak, the Exynos 2400 is manufactured using Samsung’s state-of-the-art 4nm LPP+ process. The chipset is expected to feature a 10-core CPU configuration, utilizing a 1+2+3+4 arrangement, with all cores based on the ARMv9 architecture. Allegedly, the chipset comprises a high-performance Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.1GHz, along with 2x Cortex-A720 cores operating at 2.9 GHz. For less demanding tasks, the Exynos 2400 is designed to utilize 3x Cortex-A720 cores, clocked at 2.6GHz, and 4x Cortex-A520 cores, running at 1.8 GHz.

Regarding memory and storage, the Exynos 2400 is anticipated to support LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The chipset is also rumored to facilitate the integration of high-resolution camera systems, with support for up to 320MP camera sensors and 8K video recording at 60fps through its newly designed custom ISP.

Connectivity-wise, the Exynos 2400 is set to benefit from the Exynos 5300 modem, likely to be seamlessly integrated, providing robust 5G connectivity. Moreover, it is expected to support Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), and satellite communication, particularly for emergency scenarios.

The Exynos 2400 appears to be a significant leap forward in mobile chipset technology, promising substantial improvements in performance, graphics rendering, and connectivity capabilities. As it prepares to debut with the Galaxy S24 series, it is poised to set new standards for flagship mobile processors.
